Lost Cottage of Penperth
A cottage on the remarkable River Fal in Cornwall. The Fal is a ria, or sunken river valley making it one of the deepest rivers in the world. This gives it a rich ecosystem with diverse flora and fauna. 7th Rise was founded by Thom Hunt in 2012. His aim: to create a place for people to take time out and build dreams. Reconnecting with nature was central to this. The rustic cottage, c 1750, had few facilities, historically it was involved in the production of charcoal and lime. It still throws up echoes of its industrial past as we continue the renovation.
Ever grateful that I can step back to a simpler place. Sketch its shores and treeline, of course, its reflections. Forage the tidal muds for molluscs to eat, shells to paint and draw.
